An interesting weekend.

!sreggolB wollef sgniteerG

Like I said, interesting.  So this is going to be my recap of the weekend.  This weekend definitely started on Saturday.  My roommate and I woke up Saturday morning for our first Brunch at the campus cafeteria.  It definitely leaves much to be desired.  After brunch, we went into town to meet up with a few of the other interns to see an IMAX movie at the Virginia Air and Space Center.  After checking out the gift shop and looking around for a bit, we went to the theatre.  When we got to the counter, however, we were informed that our tickets were incorrect and that we were an hour late for our showing.  After a "discussion" with a very unhelpful worker, the group of us went out for Mongolian Barbeque.  Now, if you've never experienced this, you MUST try it.  You walk up to a bar and get whatever raw meats you want.  Next you add the veggies.  Finally, get a cupful of sauce and spices.  You walk this over to a large circular bar and the grill it up for you on the spot.  It's a really cool version of stir fry.

On Sunday, Joe and I tool a walk into town to eat at a Japanese restaurant called Musasi.  We're going to be doing this pretty much every weekend, as our meal planes only cover dinner during the week.  On the way over, we went on a quest called Geocaching.  This is a global game of hide and seek where people hide "caches" in clever locations and then post the GPS coordinates.  There just so happened to be two caches within walking distance, so we went searching on our way to dinner.  The first was found without much issue, but the second required a lot of luck.  We literally circled the spot is was located about ten times.before Joe happened to look down into the bush.  For anyone interested in geocaching, chech out www.Geocaching.com for more info.

Well, I'm about out of time for today.  My girlfriend (who is awesome, I might add) just got a webcam and we're going to do our first video chat on Skype.

More to come.

Calling All Technophiles!

Greetings, fellow bloggers!

So this is going to be another short post.  First off, my Williamsburg trip has been moved.  Instead, I will be going to the Virginia Air and Space center instead.  More importantly, however, is that I am buying a new laptop!  I'm looking at an HP dv6t quad core.  If you have any thoughts on this, please let me know.

Anyway, today was a rather boring day.  I had a seminar at work which ate up most of my day and a terrible lunch. other than that, not much else happened. I would normally elaborate on things a bit more, but I have a massive headache right now and want to lay down.
There will be better, longer posts.  I promise.
More to come.

Philoics and Physosophy: The Next Morning Edition

Greetings Everyone!

Due to a random internet outage on campus, I lost yesterday's post when I tried to upload it.  So, I instead give you this Next Morning Update, which will be short as I'm writing as I get ready for work.  Anyway, Virginia is hot and humid and currently under an air quality code red due to the wildfires in North Carolina.  Basically this means that prolonged outside exposure is potentially hazardous.  However, the Michael Vick football camp is here currently, and they seem to be doing fine.

So yesterday was somewhat boring, to be honest.  I went to work, had food, and came back to my dorm.  I had another very good smoothie for lunch called the Road Runner which consists of berries and orange juice.  The highlight of yesterday was the fact that I was able to do my laundry for once.  I have shirts to wear again!!!

Anyway, I said that this would have to be fast, as I need to get ready for work.
The longer post is coming tonight.

Smoothies. That is all.

Today, I had a smoothie and apparently proved that I'm the whitest kid at Hampton University.  Lunch in the cafe was terribad today, so i decided that I would head into the student center to pick up a snack.  I wandered into Planet Smoothie, not knowing what to order... and then I saw it...  The Chocolate ElvisNow the name itself should be enough for one to tell that it is going to be good, but let me break it down for you.  Start with skim milk.  Add chocolate.  Add more chocolate.  Add peanut butter.  More chocolate.  Finally, throw in an entire banana.  Mix up and enjoy.  I ordered a medium, thinking that I'd be getting a respectable size drink in return.  Instead I get this behemoth of a drink which I can only describe as a meal in itself.  Pure awesome.

Now, for the fail of the week.  I find myself in a precarious position... I'm almost out of clean clothes, because the Hampton Laundromat is stupid.  I've tried twice now to go and wash clothes. The first time, the laundromat had closed early.  Today, however, there were a plethora of open machines.  HOWEVER, none of the machines accepted change, but instead required a little card that you got from a machine at the far end.  Anyway, I went to get a card, and realize that the machine only accepted paper money, which meant that the ten dollars in quarters that had been weighting my oants down were useless and my wallet had a lone $50 dollar bill.  EPIC FAIL!

All in all, I think today evened itself out.  Win for a fail.  I'll take that.  That's honestly about it for today.  before I go though, I'm going to set a goal for myself.  I want to have at least one subscriber and one comment on my posts.  My blog needs to feel some love.  being the eternal optimist I am, I refuse to quit blogging until I get one of each.  Now, after I get them, I'm not going to quit, but by doing this, I'm setting a perseverance challenge for myself.  If you're out there reading this, then please leave a comment, follow me, you know the drill.

More to come.

Embarassment in the Cafeteria!

 Hello Fellow Bloggers!
Well, it's been a busy week so far.  My boss has been working me about 30 minutes late every day, making me almost miss dinner on more than one occasion.  I don't mind it though, because I am really enjoying the work that I get to do while I'm here.  They have me working on programming with the AIM Satellite for NASA, which is an atmospheric measurement device.  Basically, I've been learning a bunch of software programs that will allow me to create models in effort to improve the data that they collect.  But anyway, enough with the technical stuff.  My roommate moved in today.  He's from Purdue and is an atmospheric sciences major.  He's pretty cool.  I showed him around town and he gave me a ride over to the store.  So this is shaping up to be a good week.  We have two seminars this week, which means we will be getting two breaks in our work day.  On Sunday, we're also getting a trip out to Williamsburg.  I can't wait to go.

Funny story...  I went to dinner last night by myself and ended up sitting alone.  This happens a lot when you're one of the few white kids at a historically black university.  People tend to avoid you like the plague.  As I'm eating my dinner, this girl comes over and asks me if I'd like to sit with her and her friend.  I went over to sit with them, and she revealed she was an incoming freshman he for the pre-college program.  After talking for a bit, she asked me a few questions about myself, and when I told her that I was a summer intern, she said, "You must be really smart!  Are you planning to go to school here, too?"  Apparently when I said I was going to be a senior, she thought that I meant in high school.  She almost jumped out of her seat when I told her I was going to be graduating from COLLEGE next year.  I don't think I've ever seen anybody so embarrassed before.  In the end, we all laughed it off, and before I left, she invited me and anyone else coming to meals with me to sit with them for the rest of the summer.  It's nice to know you're not completely alone sometimes.  :)

More to come.

Ciao!

Hello World!

Howdy everyone!

My name is Lance and this is my first true blog (Because I am NOT counting the last one).  To be honest, I'm not really sure how to introduce a blog.  I mean, I could "saunter through the vastness of my mental expanses with a display of witty commentary", but I feel that would just leave me sounding like a pretentious, uppity arse.  Perhaps an exploration into the depths of my mind... the final frontier... my mission, to seek out new forms of neural enterthainment... boldly going where no man has gone bef....NO!  I REFUSE to take my blog into Trekkieland.  Hmm.. So what do I have left?  How about short and simple?

I have no clue what this blog might turn into! I really just want to speak what is on my mind and share it with people, and I hope that some people might stop and read a bit.  So that's what my blog will be.

Now that that's over with, I should probably give you a little about myself.  I'm a college student currently working a summer internship in Virginia.  I am currently preparing for my senior year, and will graduate next spring with degrees in Philosophy and Physics. I am an avid music fan of most types of music with the exception of rap.  I've been a singer for the past nine years, participating in music education since middle school.  I sing in both  regular and audition-only choirs, singing Tenor 1 in each.  I have also participated in musical theatre, both in school and in other local theatres.  I'm a big guy, but quiet, and I have the greatest girlfriend that anyone could ask for.  For right now, that's about it.  I's write more, but it IS 2 A.M. and I'm exhausted.

Ciao!
